Bluetooth Proxy & HA Blue as a Repeater?

I know that a ESPHome configured as a Bluetooth proxy is typically used to extend the range so that a BT device can communicate directly with Home Assistant - but does it also work as a passive BT extender? In other words, does Home Assistant re-broadcast the bluetooth signals from, say, the Home Assistant Blue? I never had the need to connect a BT device to Home Assistant, yet - but I do have a need for a device to receive BT signals from across the house. I have a bluetooth remote control that needs to interact with an Android TV device that is located near my Home Assistant Blue. I was hoping to put an ESPHome device in the room where I am watching the Android TV box (40 feet away via an HDMI to Cat5 balun) and have the other side rebroadcast the BT signals. Is this not how the system works?

Nope, it definitely doesn’t do this.

Have you even verified that the BT remote is supported and you can even use it? Not all BT devices have support available for them and cant easily be used.

To each his own but, this is one of the reasons i try to avoid BT devices. Their range can be limited, support can be hit or miss and if the BT device is basically plug and play with HA, they can be complicated to create the config for them and just about any other wireless protocol works or can be made to work much easier.

I guess it’s not a huge deal. The remote also supports IR. I can leverage the existing IR receiver and transmitter built into the HDMI Balun to accomplish the same thing.
