Bluetooth Proxy on ESP8266

Is it possible to use the new Bluetooth Proxy feature on an ESP8266 and more specifically on an ESP8266 which is used for other purposes like tagreader or a remote switch?

The ESP8266 does not have Bluetooth.

I have seen add-on Bluetooth modules but at that point just get a ESP32 and transfer the current config over.

Thanks! I am just annoyed to have one more thing plugged into my wall socket at random places in my home.
Between esp8266, wifi repeater, zigbee repeater, etc…

I installed proxy on my existing devces (dimmer, thermo, power meter…), so there’s no new device in my home because of that. To be honest, i think it’s a waste of ESP32 to have it just as proxy. There’s soooo much more it can do… using it as proxy middle-man is just a side function.
But, if you have several 8266 devices you can replace one (or more) of them with ESP32 model and you’re done.

Hello @Protoncek and @silvrr,

I bought a C3 mini Lolin to replace the D1 mini within my tagreader but what should be the pinout? And what about the code?
