Bluetooth usb dongle in HA on intel system

I have restored full backup from raspberry pi 3b to intel x86-64 system, to which I attached a Bluetooth 4.0 usb dongle which is recognized and integrated without issue.

But the bluetooth devices that I added in raspberry pi 3b with its own bluetooth, these devices are now unavailable. I thought that once bluetooth connection is provided via bluetooth usb dongle, they will be automatically recognized and start receiving the data but it does seems to be the case. Everything else seems to be running without any issue except bluetooth devices.

Can anyone please tell how to solve this issue?

Hi nitin29,

Are you running HAOS or a different installation? HAOS is the best at making Bluetooth to work because of optimizations. For sure recognized and working are not the same thing. If you are running in a virtual machine, the dongle control will have to be passed thru. Lots a places to go wrong, frankly. This is why I gave up on Bluetooth usb dongles an added a couple of espHome Bluetooth proxys.

I have installed HA OS on intel system, it is not running in docker or VM. The dongle integrated but failed to fetch data from some TH sensor from Govee that were integrated with Raspberry Pi 3B+ with its bluetooth. So, I tried ESP32 bluetooth proxy and it worked. Though it seems a waste of complete board, I had a spare bluetooth dongle that, if worked, I could use ESP32 for other stuff. Anyway, this worked and now this intel machine i5 3570K monster from 11 years can compile ESP32 program under 10 minutes and run all kind of heavy integration including Grafana etc, was wasting time with raspberry pi though it consume 10 times more watts but I don’t mind as there is no more frustration and not wasting time and sanity on something that isn’t capable of.
