Today, I linked my Zigbee eglo rgb lights to my Home Assistant (using a Zigbee usb dongle and auto-discover. When I try to add those same lights to the AwoX app too, the app states that the device is already linked to “a 3rd party” and that it’s not possible to form a mesh network. You’ve guessed it; I want HA integration, my wife wants “easy AwoX app”…
What does that mean in practice? How does not having a mesh network impact Home Assistant / Zigbee hub / AwoX app?
Are there any (android) apps out there that let me control the lights without heading to an Internet-based cloud service first (I’m guessing that’s what AwoX is?)… Is there maybe something with a nice GUI that will just pick up and control the Zigbee devices through my local Zigbee hub?
//edit ; woops, and I also would like to be able to use the hardware remote control that came with the lights (also zigbee, and Home Assistant can also “see” it in the devices list).
//edit; so I got it working last night. Pair the remote with the lamps, simply by pressing the group number (1, 2 or 3)… Still not sure what the impact is of adding the lamps to the AwoX app, while also connected in Home Assistant. … I think I need a different app, that will allow the lamps to be set via my phone, using the zigbee protocol?
