Bravia remote.send SleepTimer command no longer working after TV software update

I had a script that worked pretty well sending multiple SleepTimer commands to my Bravia XBR-49X950H using the Remote: Send Command service. But since the latest TV software update, SleepTimer no longer works. The script executes without errors and the TV’s LED flashes as if it’s receiving commands, but the commands have no effect. Same if I issue the TV a single command in Developer Tools, it executes but no effect. Has anyone else experienced this? I can issue most other commands like TVPower, VolumeUp, VolumeDown, but just not SleepTimer. I tried reloading the TV device within the Sony Bravia integration and also deleting and re-adding it, but neither solved this.

It is only happening on one TV. I have two Bravias and with the other, a Bravia X55X810C, the command still works.

Seems to be connected to this issue report?

Yes, except in my case it did work for a while. Weird that it would work and then stop, but we all know how software updates work. It’s not a huge loss because it seemed a little flaky when it did work, at least with the first few SleepTimer commands.

I would search the Sony Bravia forums for the issue you encounter. Since it seems to has happened since that firmware/os upgrade to that particular TV only I am sure other Bravia users have already complained about the latter.

Anyway, it would be nice if you post your findings here to help other HA Bravia users who are runing into the same problem :+1:t3:

Thanks for the suggestion to check Bravia forums. Sure enough, they are complaining about various buggy aspects of the most recent update over at AVSforum. Hopefully this gets sorted soon. Another symptom is sluggish settings menu performance, as if some process is hogging all the resources and then suddenly finishes and then all the previous settings commands execute in rapid succession.

As for our Bravia TVs here I activated “Developer Tools” on them and disabled/blocked some of Sony’s bloatware and autostarts. The TVs are much more snappy after this.

Unfortunately I don’t have the link at hand but if you search the net for “Bravia bloatware” you might find the site where the author describes in detail which functions/apps you can safely disable.
