Feature Request: Pie Chart Breakdown of Home Energy Consumption by Source (with kWh and %) within Energy Dashboard
Summary
Please add a dedicated pie chart (or similar visual) in the Energy Dashboard that shows how home energy consumption is covered by different energy sources – including both absolute values in kWh and percentages.
Problem
Currently, the Energy Dashboard shows the total energy consumption of the home (“Zuhause”), and the sources (grid, battery, PV self-consumption) can be inferred indirectly through energy flow charts or the doughnut chart.
However, this requires hovering and mental math, and there’s no quick, dedicated visualization showing how the home’s energy needs were actually covered.
Why this matters
Understanding how much of my home’s energy came from solar, battery, or the grid is a crucial insight for energy-conscious users. Right now, there’s no single place to see this breakdown clearly and instantly — despite all the necessary data being already available.
Feature suggestion
Add a pie chart (or stacked bar, toggle option, etc.) to the Energy Dashboard that shows how the total home consumption is distributed across the energy sources, e.g.:
- Solar PV (self-consumption)
- Battery
- Grid
Each slice should show:
- % share
- absolute value in kWh
It could be added as:
- An additional section under “Home” in the Energy Dashboard
- Or an option when clicking the “Zuhause”/“Home” doughnut chart
This is a sample visualization of how such a breakdown could look — combining both absolute consumption values and their relative share in a clear and intuitive pie chart.
Example use case
In my case for March 2025, the home consumed 1,282.5 kWh, and I can reconstruct the breakdown manually:
Solar (self-consumption): 654.7 kWh (~51%)
Battery: 393.9 kWh (~31%)
Grid: 233.9 kWh (~18%)
But that’s only possible because I manually calculated it from individual values.
Together, solar and battery provided 1,048.6 kWh, which equals ~82% of the total consumption — perfectly matching the self-sufficiency value shown in the dashboard.
Bonus
Let users toggle between:
- Relative share (%)
- Absolute values (kWh)
- Or see both at once in the chart labels or tooltip
I believe this would be a valuable addition to the Energy Dashboard — making energy usage not only more transparent, but also more meaningful for everyone.
Would love to hear what others think!
