This is a heads-up for anybody trying to add a RMC4 mini to anything (literally)
The device comes with a USB to micro USB (I think, who can keep track) power cable. The included cable has what appears to be a non-standard micro USB connector. It’s a standard connector but is about a millimeter longer in the male part of the micro USB connector than all my other cables. I had an intermittent power issue that was driving me nuts. I thought that maybe the female connector in the device had a bad solder joint and took it apart to have a look-see. Well it turns out that the black housing is ever so slightly thicker than it should be and prevents a normal micro USB connector from seating properly. The included cable works just fine but if you say to yourself “I don’t need such a long cable, I got a much shorter one that I can use instead”, you will be in for a bit of a surprise !
While I am at it, while the RM4C mini has IR LED’s all around and on the top to blast out it’s IR signal, it only has a single IR receiver for when you want to train your setup. This can cause all kinds of grief if you don’t know about it. Receiving is on one side only so try the different orientations until you get a proper code read. I spent some time getting frustrated because codes couldn’t be learned and then, after I got some codes, other attempts did not go so well because I did not realize that receiving of the code was not a 360 degree (and top) thing.
Hope that this helps somebody …
