Broadlink Mini Wifi connection drop

I have three Broadlink RM Mini 3’s. Two drop wifi connection at about 5 minutes past the hour every hour, for 6 minutes. The other one drops out at same time for about 1 minute. They are on different firmware, but in the ihc iOS app, they aren’t showing any firmware updates available.

I can’t work out why. I have a Unifi NanoHD Access Point, which is on the same floor as them all. The signal is good, so I know it’s not that. They are on a seperate SSID, but they are not blocked from internet access at the moment.

Has anyone else seen a similar issue?

Thanks

Which firmware is your NanoHD running?

Since the ver.6.x-series of UniFi’s Cloud Controller Software people are having all sorts of problems with IoT-devices and WiFi connection stability: https://community.ui.com/releases

This is the reason why I will stay away from the 6.x controller software for the time being …

As a first step I would try to downgrade your UniFi AP’s back to firmware 4.3.20.x (using 4.3.20.11298 here on all UniFi AP’s and Switches, the Cloud Key Controller runs on 5.13.32-13646-1).

All 5 BroadLink RM4 Mini’s here are working seamlessly without any hickups on Home Assistant 0.117.4.

I’m on firmware 4.3.21.11325 on the access points.

I have upgraded to latest HA.

Edit: I’ve downgraded to 4.3.20.11298. Will update if all working.

Don’t forget about UniFi Controller Software. I would definitely stay away from the 6.x series.

Just an update, dropping the AP firmware back to 4.3.20.11298 didn’t fix the issue. Broadlinks still drop out. The controller is still on 6.0.28-14280-1.

Why would it just be the broadlink having issues? I’ve got lots of different wifi connected devices, mostly ESP based on the network and they are stable.

I’ve recently started seeing devices drop lately on my Unifi network (after upgrading the AP’s, don’t have details handy). I’ll be interested to see what the solution is. Devices dropping are also Broadlink RM3mini’s and one Wemos D1 mini. The Wemos drops every couple of minutes. All other devices (over 40 of them) are fine.

Instead of downgrading every piece of firmware, you can just disable the feature that’s causing the problem.

I had the exact same symptoms with a Broadlink RM PRO+ on our UniFi network. Turning off GTK rekeying on the separate wireless network used by the device solved it.

I can also block all WAN traffic from the remote without any problems.
