Broadlink not showing Luminara (IR) candles

Broadlink question: I used to have HA running in Docker on a Synology NAS, but due to numerous issues (due to my own ineptness), I switched to a VM on a Windows PC instead. So far, a much better experience overall, but I’ve run into something that’s puzzling me: I use a Broadlink RM4 Pro to control some Luminara IR candles. When I was using Docker, the Broadlink integration picked up the candles without my having to do anything extra. With the VM instance, they’re not showing up at all. Have I missed a very obvious step somewhere? Thank you!

Could you explain what you mean by “picked up”? It’s been a while since I used Broadlink, but I don’t remember it auto-detecting anything.

Sure: I had the Broadlink set up before I started to use Home Assistant, and it had learned the code for the Luminara candles. In Docker, when I installed the Broadlink integration, an entry called “Luminara Candles” appeared alongside the Broadlink remote. I don’t remember having to do anything special for them to show up. In the VM, I see only the Broadlink remote and entities (for temperature and humidity, as this one includes the sensor)—no sign of the Luminara candles. Does that help?

Hm. Must be something to do with the fact that your Broadlink had already learned the codes. I don’t remember anything appearing as an entity in HA apart from the Broadlink itself.

You say “this one”, so I assume you’re using a different Broadlink? HA stores the codes for each device in a separate file, so if it is a different one, it won’t have the original codes for your candles. You can check - the files are saved in /config/.storage with names like broadlink_remote_xxxxxxxxxxxxx_codes

Thanks so much for your reply. And no, I’m using the same Broadlink remote. I’ll see if I can track down the files—thanks for the help!
