I’ve had an RM3 mini integrated into my system for a while and use it extensively to control my Sony TV via Alexa. Recently I built a remote interface so I can also control it via my phone. Everything went well and it works fine. Thus I decided to add some additional controls to the remote to adjust my Sony soundbar. This is where things start getting problematic…
I can capture codes from the remote and work fine if I ONLY turn the soundbar on, but not the TV. If I turn the TV on which automatically turns on the soundbar I can control the TV, but not the soundbar.
One thing I did notice is that the soundbar remote churns out a different code every time for any individual key I capture via Broadlink Manager. This is the only remote I have that does this, but regardless of what it code it produces, when I plug it into an HA script it works fine as long as the TV is not on.
I have another universal remote (Wayne Dalton) that I have programmed for the TV and soundbar as well as some other equipment. Thus I captured (again via BMgr) the codes from it for the soundbar functions I want to control. It always sends the same code and again if I plug that into an HA script it works fine as long as the TV is not on, but still has the same issue of not working when the TV is on. The WD remote works with the TV on, but the way that works is that there are remote selection buttons that must be pushed in order to switch between the various remotes.
I’m a little stumped now other that I’m wondering if there is a way to send some sort of a “remote identifier” for the soundbar before sending the key command that I want to use. I’m not sure where to find that sort of thing to see if that’s even possible.
