Im looking at adding an ir-blaster to control a window AC & portable heater. I know that the Broadlink phone app has the ability to add appliances through an online lookup. Is there a way to use the online lookup directly through HA, though? I don’t have a clue where the remotes for the appliances are, if i have them at all. I know that i can order replacement remotes for them, but thats an extra $30+ that I’d rather not spend if i don’t have to.
Or, is there a searchable online database of the known codes?
I have several broadlinks, and usually just learn the codes from the remote. I have not tried this, but the documentation mentions being able to get codes that are in the broadlink e-control app as well (broadlink has several different apps so make sure you get the e-control one). I believe that app has a database of known device codes, so its possible you can try and get your device working in that app first, and then follow the directions linked below to export those codes to Home Assistant. The link below is book marked to take you right to the e-control section of the directions.
Yes I have that app still on my phone and its pretty old. Whenver I use it I get a popup to use the newer Broadlink app, and as far as I know you can no longer get the codes from the newer app the same way.
Any chance you have an old android phone lying around you can give the e-control app a try on?
If not, possible you can use an android emulator to run it on
