Build your own PC/System device?

Hi,

Is it possible to build a device with entities (sensor, switch etc.). Saw this somewhat similar post 2 years ago. Not sure if there is support for this is YAML now. If not, is there any other way (aside from MQTT, which was the solution on the other post)?

name: “LoRa Gateway”
entities:

  • number.lora_gateway_uptime
  • number.lora_gateway_packages
  • switch.lora_gateway_toggle_eth

My goal is to create a device for a pc/system which has sensors for cpu usage/temp, gpu usage/temp and so on. I also need to add switch/button for turn on and off. Maybe something like this.

I actually did a bit research on this and found out that it needs HACS to work?

Then I did some research on HACS and this scared me (lol).

You don’t need HACS to install Hass.agent, you can do it manually. HACS just makes it a lot easier to install. With some common sense and backups HACS is nothing to be scared of.

Hi Allen,

The warning is making sure you know that the stuff you are loading is coming from GitHub and was written by anyone to do anything and not tested in any meaningful way.
Think of HACS like Napster used to be(ish). It makes it easier to download and monitor for updates things that others make available for sharing.

It’s the unknown of the program you are downloading that you need to trust.
