Building my own lamps, any recommendations on switch circuits to make them smart?

I’ve got some wall mounted lights on order to go either side of the bed in our bedroom. I plan on building my own bespoke wall mounted switches for them and they will plug directly into a standard UK wall socket for power.

I was thinking about grabbing a dimmable touch sensor and using these to turn them on/off, but then I got thinking if I can do this in parallel with some form of smart capability.

Does anybody know of any off the shelf WiFI modules I can just hook up which would allow me to remote control my dumb lamps (on/off and brightness level), but also add a physical switch so they can be used manually as well?

I specifically only use smart devices that will walk directly from itself over the local network to HA. Anything that requires an internet connection isn’t suitable for us (rural, very bad, unreliable internet).

Happy to build my own modules if that’s a better solution, but would rather follow a predefined plan than start from scratch if viable.

Does anybody know of anything that I can just buy and modify that will do the job?

Not touch, but you can use any mains rated switch(es) you want:

that… looks perfect! Thank you for sharing. That will do nicely… I just need to figure out the physical switching side of things. In an ideal world I would quite like the kind of switch that you brush your hand over rather than physical push switch. Will do some further research.

Cheers
