Buy a Zooz 800 Z-wave USB stick or wait for Nabu Casa’s new device? [moved]

I’m starting to migrate my home automation from Hubitat to HA Green. I’d like to start migrating my ~50 Zwave devices over to HA using Z-wave LR as much as possible. I’m not sure whether I should buy a Zooz 800 stick or wait for Nabu Casa’s new device with its external antenna.

Can anyone comment on whether Nabu Casa’s Z-wave solution is likely two months out, or six, or twelve? I can wait a couple months and would prefer not to migrate my devices twice and break my automations in the process. Thanks!

Ignore me. I was being stupid!

That POE device I mentioned is Zigbee.

I have a Zooz 800 Z-Wave USB stick with zero issues!!!

There’s already Z-Wave controllers with external antennas that you can buy. The Z-Station is supported by home assistant. Z-Wave Controllers - Home Assistant

Thanks! I had seen the Z-station, but its Amazon reviews weren’t encouraging.

Paulus discusses the release timeline in the 2025.5 Home Assistant Podcast.

Would you have a timestamp or a tl;dw by any chance? That podcast is just over 2 hours long.

I think you are looking at the wrong podcast.

I assume nabu casas usb stick will also be based on the EFR32ZG23 chip.
It’s the same chip also the Zooz ZAC93 and ZST39 is using.
It’s quite popular. Found also on AliExpress an GPIO board from SMLIGHT which is also based on EFR32ZG23.
But it’s only a guess. I couldn’t find any discussions nabu casa confirms this.
I’m also very excited to see the new Z-Wave dongle from nabu casa.
