Hello,
I am going to by a HA system as a gift and was thinking of a Intel NUC and a Skyconnect for Zigbee.
Is this a good combination for people starting out?
Myself are Z-wave abd Rfxcom stuff but I think I would go for Zigbee if I started over, cheak IKEA stuff to by.
Am I on the right track?
It should be easy to maintain…
Isn’t that kind of like buying your wife a vacuum for her birthday? You know she may want one, but you don’t buy it, because that’s not the ‘track’ you want to go down as a husband for a gift purchase.
Your gift is like handing somebody a job/headache they may not really want. I’m not being rude/disrespectful, just feel you should let them make the purchase and help them out as the ‘Gift’ if possible.
You might have a point here, I appreciate your input - just thought it would be good fun to have…
It’s something they would not prioritize themselves but I think they would appreciate it… but I might be wrong.
Any other who have comments on this “soft subjuect”?
take into account, that they might have bought a house, but do you think, they are interested in homeautomation?
How good are their skills when it comes to problem solving?
How much “why does it not work” do they accept?
Do they have the interest in diggin into that rabbit hole that comes with it?
Gifting such a Setup is great - but only after talking to them and make it clear if they REALLY WANT to start such a project…
