Hi all, I’ve come across an unexpected limitation of Reolink camera continuous recording which I’d like to correct using Home Assistant.
Limitation is as follows:
Since my reolink camera only records to SD card when a specific motion event occurs I have to chose between having notifications just for my porch (a motion zone) OR have notifications for the whole street (without motion zone) if I want to use only Reolink’s iPhone app for notifications.
Requirements:
What I would like to have is recording events to be triggered with any motion event anywhere in the view of the camera AND notifications triggered when a ‘person’ is detected on my porch ‘zone’.
I know that this can be achieved using an NVR but I’d like to ideally achieve this with something as simple and lightweight as possible. My Proxmox server does not have GPU passthrough, so solutions like Frigate which seem to require a GPU to run well are not an option for me. I know there is a way to run Frigate from CPU, but my Proxmox server does not have sufficient cores for this.
Ideal end result:
Home Assistant integration/addon / or lightweight container or vm NVR solution with minimal CPU requirements, collects footage or snapshots only from my porch zone. Stores them on my network storage (Turnkey VM) and then I can trigger an automation to send myself the video or image using Home Assistant.
Anyone have any ideas of how best to achieve this? Am I looking at it the wrong way completely? I thought Reolink would have a notifications ‘zone’ seperate to the recording trigger zone.
Thanks in advance
