Can Alerts get some love?

Hi all (especially the devs),

can we give some love to Alerts in one of the next releases?
This undervalued integration is very useful and according to the stats used in many instances.

On my wish list:

  • I would love to be able to set it up from the frontend. Think this is one of the last I configuration.yaml-only core integrations
  • No more having to restart Home Assistant to load changes to Alerts (even reloading all YAML does not pick up changes)

Sorry to be a downer, but the likelihood of this happening is extremely low. From what I can remember, the current plan is to make notifications entity based instead of service based. When that is complete, the alerts integration will likely be replaced with a blueprint.

i say just keep alerts as is and let others use other features that do more, why break a current working setup lol

Main reason I use Alert instead of Automation with a notification is the repeating alert. I need some nagging for a while before I rectify some “bad” situation. Just dismissing an alert (“not now, Home Assistant!”) makes me forget…
I can see the use for having this built on the entity, just hope that all functionality then gets kept…
