Can anyone help me setup a security system for my home

Hi im Andy

i would really appreciate some help in setting up an alarm system, as last night there where two low life trying to break in to my home at 2AM.
Luckily my dog (Pip) saw something odd and started barking and that made them runaway.

My wife is pretty shaken up and wants me to get an alarm fitted in addition to our cctv but was thinking there might be a better way,
My idea is to use the Netatmo presence to watch over the house as normal but to be able to turn on some lights (hue/ Tp-Link Switches) when it picks up a person on camera at night only if that’s posable.

And have the Natatmo tags on the doors and windows that will play party mode on Sonos and play an alarm at full volume as a deternt (I have speakers in every room and outside so will soon get attention)

I have spent all night looking in how to do this and I think its possible but maybe beyond my skill set so if someone would not mind helping id be happy to pay/buy a beer and such.

So far I can’t get any further as I keep getting this message

Home:~ Kodi$ sudo pip3 install homeassistent

It seems you are trying to install HA on a RPI already running Kodi. Not sure it that’s the best/easiest way to get started but take a look at this topic HA and Kodi on Same Raspberry Pi?
and the all in one installer https://home-assistant.io/docs/installation/raspberry-pi-all-in-one/

ah sorry should of given more info im trying to install on a mac mini the username is kodi
osx 10.12.6

Do i have to have a PI

No, HA runs on many platforms. You can try the venv installation. https://home-assistant.io/docs/installation/virtualenv/

im not having much luck with this

The $ is a prompt marker, not a command to enter.

It’s tripped up a lot of people, you’re not alone there…

Maybe worth a browse of this thread.

I’d also consider adding motion activated lights (you even get ones that have a ringer that sounds when the lights activate). You could even hook them up to an energy monitor so that HA can tell when they activate.
