I have a decent sized 2-story house. My HA server is in the basement, it has a Zigbee stick plugged into the HA server. I want to use an Ikea Zigbee remote in my bedroom on the top floor and opposite side of the house of the server. Other than this remote, I only have 3 other Zigbee devices, all door sensors. Is there a way to add a 2nd Zigbee stick, almost like a repeater, near my bedroom that would improve the range?
If it helps, I have a 2nd mechanical room upstairs near my bedroom for the 2nd floor HVAC. I ran Cat6 from that 2nd mech room to the room my HA server is in.
You can add a repeater, for sure, but a stick (i.e. a coordinator) will not do that.
A repeater is a specific type of device.
EDIT: Apparently, a plain 10€ Ikea Tradfri smart plug act as a repeater/router as well, so just add one or more to your network at strategic places, and you have both your range extended and new gadgets
You can add a second hub and integrate it into your home assistant BUT two networks will not be connected between each other. You can have one network for one floor and one for another.
Home assistant ZHA integration supports only one network, so your second one should use zigbee2mqtt and mosquitto broker to work with home assistant.
On the other hand, trying to extend first one would save you from setting up second network.
