I have built a small volume control box for my boat, that can control front amp, rear amp and sub volume with servos turning line level volume controls. It’s almost done, but being totally anal retentive I would like the volume slider to show 0 to 100, instead of -100 to 100, which is what’s needed for the servo. Here is the code for one servo, with the number slider connected to that:
It shows 50 as the volume for the subs, but as you can see the actual value is 75 of 100. Is this possible, or is it something that I will have to live with and be slightly annoyed over the rest of the boat setup’s (and probably my) life?
Do you like/want to use a slider to adjust it? There’s also a box with up/down buttons and then separate buttons. Me personally, i like buttons. Heres something visual if it helps.
No Thank necessary, i know when my ideas and cooking/cleaning aren’t appreciated!
Lol jk, right on. Its a personal preference thing i suppose. Atleast fot mobile dashboards, i dont particularly like sliders because its hard to put it on the value i want… Maybe its just me and my fat fingers, who knows??
Well, for my part it’s much faster to slide it from full and to maybe half or less when something’s suddenly too loud. I have 8" and a 10" tablets running my setup in the boat. 8" Oukitel IP67 in the front, and a 10" Lenovo in a waterproof bag in the wheelhouse.
Ya, i could see how it works better for things were you’d want to make large adjustments. The only servo im using currently is for rotating a camera and obviously for something like that you could see how small incremental movements are more desirable as it lets me smoothly pan left/right.
Also, i couldnt help but notice you didnt even try telling me my fingers arent fat! I hope that boat has a comfy couch in it because thats where youll be sleeping from now on!
If perhaps your looking for a new best friend, i was thinking about something like this FYI…
Would strongly recommend ESPHome-powered physical hardware sliders so that you don’t have to deal with a flat screen UI when going 2397809276952675932 miles per hour with your cool boat.
@Rudd-O I don’t think there is an IP57 (anything less will disintegrate here) slider that is motorized so it will be syncronized between the front and rear steering positions (I move between them almost constantly). Also there isn’t much real estate left on any of the places, especially the front position is getting very crowded by buttons and stuff. Edit: Oh, and music in the boat isn’t that much of an issue in speed, it’s more often a case of floating around, fishing and drinking beer with friends.
I’m kind of curious to check out this boat your pimping out!
Also, just a reminder. I haven’t received this summers boat schedule and I need to take some days off work that
are day’s I’m scheduled with having the BOAT…
Here’s your chance to redeem yourself and we can discuss the bunk beds I guess… I’m already in contact with Emenem to do a “Boats 'n Hoes 2” so… Just saying bud.
