Can I replace this fan switch with a Zwave switch?

Hi Everyone,
While I’m brand new to Home Assistant, I do have some experience with Z-wave devices.

I recently moved and the previous owners have fan installed using this Casablanca controller. Despite the switches on it, there is no light on the fan

My question is, will this Enbrighten Fan Switch replace the Casablanca switch? I cannot seem to find much information about it. Would you also happen to know if you can reverse fan direction with this switch?

Do you have any recommendations for a different fan switch?

Thank you for the help!

You can probably replace the switch since you don’t have a light on the fan, IF you have a neutral wire in the switch box. No, it won’t control direction- it is just on-off.

You could get creative with a Z-Wave SPDT relay if your electrical knowledge is up to the task.

I had a (newer model) Casablanca Inteli-Touch unit go bad, and I replaced it (both the wall unit and the control board inside the fan housing) with a product from Fan Man Lighting.

Since they use MinkaAire controllers in their conversions, that meant I could now control the fan through a Bond Bridge and the Bond integration. That opened up a world of options for me to have full control of the fan remotely.

I’m not saying this is the best approach - I just stumbled into it after I replaced the broken unit - but it does work pretty well.

Unfortunately the fan is in a hard-to-get-to spot so I need the switch to be able to reverse it. I have some very basic electrial skills, but not enough to install a relay.

Thank you so much for the help!

Interesting…

I will look into that. Thank you so much for the help!
