I am planning to migrate from groups.yaml views to Lovelace views. I have quite a bit of groups, and it would be helpful if I would be able to reuse the groups, instead of having to specify each entity again.

Leave the group’s in yaml, you can use them as any other device 
In below lovelace, lights is a group containing all light, Kitchen lights is a group of lights in the kitchen:
so i can switch all lights, all kitchen lights, or individual lights in the kitchen (living, bedroom etc)
