Can somebody please help me yaml file to esp8266?

i´ve got a lot of trouble configuring my esp8266 in esphome builder… not even the standard flashing procedure is succesful… tried some thing but they didn´t work out…

my goal is to implement wvc-800 life r3 kaideng inverter and it was already done by a german called gernot althammer… GernotAlthammer/HA-ESPHome-WVC-Inverter: HA ESPHome code for KaiDeng WVC-600/700/800-Life Micro Inverters

can somebody help me out? i´m not a total noob and did some cool stuff in past but i would like to get some help this time. i can´t get it to work… thx…

in my understanding i just have to edit the yaml file this guy wrote to my esp but this is the problem i have. ereverytime i fix one error tghere is the next… gonna upload some pictures here…

but at first:

this error is showing up if i wanna do the standard setup. hardware is nodemcu esp8266 12-F

found something on reddit. didn´t work out either (use update all button before compiling)

What machine are you using for compilation?

laptop win 11.

homeassistant on raspberry 3b+

i´m edititng the yaml file of my esp found in my builder… then click on install…

at the moment i´m still having prblems with the basic configuration as you see. the esp is only prepared with webflasher… the standard installl even fails after that as u can see in picture above… thats nothing edited…

this fails :frowning:

i bought other esp8266 for that my old ones were cp2102 wich was even more trouble… new ones are ch340 working better…

If you are running Esphome builder as an addon on the RPI 3b+ you are very unlikely to have much success. It’s a bit short on RAM. It would be better to run it on the Win11 machine.

https://esphome.io/guides/installing_esphome/

It’s a little more involved on a PC requiring using CLI.

thank u very much… a few moments i thought about the error message… its the ram of the pi… i came to the conclusion myself…

i´ve got another laptop with vm homeassistant. i will try…

but the project. the project i wanna built will still be problematic… i hope i´ll get some help here…

gonna try now and then post here… thx

You do not have to run the add on.
You can just install the esphome cli and do the same in your laptop via CLI.

I started HA using a Pi 3b+ and over time it just couldn’t keep up and its pretty common for people to have issues flashing esp boards from the Esphome addon because of memory issues. I used to have to go to my addon page and temporarily stop other addons to free up memory and then i could flash the board, then go turn things back on… Its a real pain in the a55 and the one thing i strongly recommend doing is ditching the Pi 3b+ and get a Pi 4b at the minimum or better yet, get a Pi5.

If you dont have either a Pi4 or Pi5 and would need to buy one then id suggest just seeking a mini pc instead. For a little more money than a Pi5 you can get a much faster mini pc.
