I’ve tried a lot of energy monitoring plugs to monitor the energy consumption of my homelab.
I also need it to be compact, as it has to fit in a dual-wide (4 outlet) outlet without blocking the adjacent outlet, either above or to the side.
Unfortunately, many of them are just not that reliable; they’ll work for a couple of weeks, but then stop reporting.
For example, the Kasa EP25 is nice and compact, fits well, but disappears off the network after a week or so.
I have a ThirdReality Gen 2 plug that seems to stay online but is too big and blocks the adjacent outlet.
My homelab typically pulls around 250-300 W, peaking around 500 (when everything’s going full blast).
A lot of the smart plugs seem to be 3.3 in (85 mm) wide, which is too big; the EP25 is 2.6 in (66 mm), which seems to be OK.
Any recommendations would be welcome.
