I have a small Minecraft server to play with my friends that I used to host on an old laptop in my house and I used Home Assistant to monitor it and send me a notification if it goes down, but I had a few problems with my ISP and I had to move it to a server hosted on Linode.
Every thing works fine (and in some aspects even better) but I haven’t been able to reconfigure the home assistant integration.
Every time I try I get the following error IP address is invalid (MAC address could not be determined).
I used the public IP address of the server (the same one that I put in Minecraft to connect to the server) with the port 25565
Can someone help me???
Is the server Java or bedrock?
Is a Java server
Dm me the IP for the server and I’ll test it on my HA.
When using a hostname, it won’t do the mac check and works.

thank you, this fixed it for me! such a dumb integration…
I’m not sure what could be causing the error you’re getting, but have you tried double checking that you’re using the correct IP address? Sometimes there can be multiple IP addresses associated with a server, and using the wrong one can cause issues. It’s also possible that there’s something misconfigured with Home Assistant itself. If you haven’t already, I’d recommend checking out some online forums or documentation specific to Home Assistant and Minecraft server hosting. I recently found this website that has a list of the top Minecraft servers, and it might have some useful information or resources for you to use in troubleshooting your issue. Good luck!
Hi all. FYI: The MAC check for the Minecraft Server integration was removed in HA core 2023.10.
