Can you Migrate/Copy an integration from a test to live instance of HA

Hi All,

Newbie to HA, Have a small HA setup controlling some lights automation. Have some other Smart device that I could include.

Have setup a 2nd instance of HA on another server. If say I installed for example local Tuya on that 2nd instance and got it all working to my needs. Can I some how migrate/transfer just that Local Tuya part of the HA config to the Live HA instance?

If so how?

Thanks
Steve

It completely depends on…

  1. are you asking at the integration level or ha level? (i assume integration). For HA just backup / restore / rename. But that takes the entire setup.
  2. if integration - it totally depends on the integration… For instance for ZWave, your network lives in the coordinator stick, move the stick. For some of the newest integrations like the latest local Tuya - they only config in the UI and there’s no supported way to separate the config (possible yyes but requires surgery to the hidden config folders. Not something I recommend)

So as a matter of practicality. No.

Hi Been a while had ‘life’ stuff to deal Not done much with HA in the last few months. Getting back to HA, So my setup is…

My live HA instance is on a small mini PC (Dell optiplex)
My ‘test’ HA instance is on a old I7 PC running under a proxmox VM. I wanted to play/test with various integrations without messing with the live instance/server.

So far so good.

So as an example on the test instance I have the integration from HACS for my Drayton Wiser Smart heating controls which works very well. Now want to ‘move’ to Live HA Instance. without having to re-create all the customise Dashboards/helpers/scripts etc that I built with it.
HACS is already on the Live HA Instance.

Is that possible, somehow?

Have ‘other’ integrations in the same state that now realty need moving to the live HA server/instance.

My further plan is to setup another VM on the proxmox box as a ‘failover’ should the live instance/server fail!

You might be better off replicating the source / “live” vm instead of creating a separate vm. This keeps everything consistent. Storage Replication - Proxmox VE Be aware that any misconfiguration or errors on the live vm will replicate to the replica as well.

Ok the ‘Live’ is not a VM it’s a separate standalone machine running HA OS and core instance. How would I ‘replicate’ that to a VM on the proxmox machine.

You would run that on Proxmox too. Install Proxmox on both physical machines.

Hi Thanks fleskefjes, don’t want to run proxmox on live HA PC
Are you suggesting that i replicate proxmox VM’s ?

Why not? Yes, that is the suggestion.
