Can you recommend an accurate dog fart sensor

I want to detect by a sensor before I come into the room and detect it with my own nose. I’ve tried to prevent them.

But it just doesn’t work. Sound detection is no good as they are mostly silent and he’s a dog so barking would set it off.
I’m thinking of perhaps a volatile organic compound sensor. Anybody got any suggestions? An automation to turn on extraction fan or few blasts from the airfreshner after detection.
It’s a real problem …so it is..
I’m not sure if this is in the right section. I mean front-end , rear-end sounds better.

As an owner of a lovely French bulldog, I would say that pet’s farts (same about snoring) are kind of “blessings”))) ofc if they are not caused by some health issues…

As for tVOC: never seen any changes on my air monitor device (uses a TGS2600 sensor) when my boy farted (although it spikes when a bottle of spirit is opened, when I am making a syringe injection, I when a perfume is used, etc)

Haha, this happens sometimes here as well! :upside_down_face:
What are you feeding him?

Here, they get a (literally translated) a ‘cold-pressed chunk’ which I’m buying now for about 10y and given to 3 dogs.
They do well on it but now, for the second one, I got another brand which are bigger in size (and a little cheaper).
Because the regular ones were to hard for her and she was spilling a lot, she’s better off now.
I also tried them for the Malinois and he was really gassing the place so put him back to regular.

One thing I have experienced, and confirmed by the vet: if you feed your dog multiple times a day (this is unnatural), you over sensitize the stomach, which has side effects as well.
In that case, they mostly eat grass very regularly to calm the stomach.

Our OCD psycho dog gets rancid gas from Pew Buffalo brand dog food. He is fine with anything else.

One feeding per day? Tell that to our 15-pound bottomless stomach with four paws and a tail attached…

Another one that dictates the house… :dog:

This might be one of the more unusual HA requests I’ve seen! Maybe wire up an ESP to strap to his tail so it’s in the direct line of fire? :peach::bird:‍:fire:

Unless it was coated in dog medicine he’d eat it.
Oh, think of the vet bill from the gpio pins alone.
