Wondering if anyone is using Candeo RD1 dimmers with ZHA and finding them reliable?
I have two of these installed next to eachother. One is driving a single 7W bulb, while the other drives a pair of the same bulb. I don’t have any issues with flickering or the bulbs being lit when they’re supposed to be off.
They’re connected through a Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro running Tasmota, which is a few feet away.
The problem I’ve been having is that both dimmers (at different times) seemingly randomly go into a state where the on/off state shows as off even when the light is actually on (after I’ve clicked the knob to turn it on). They can stay in that state for a day or more, then eventually suddenly start working again. Power-cycling the RD1 (tripping and resetting the breaker for the lighting circuit) “fixes” it immediately.
Candeo support have been sortof trying to help, but they’re not really fully owning the issue, IMO.
First they argued that it’s a Zigbee issue, where packets are getting dropped, even though I clearly demonstrated that packets were being received, just with the wrong data inside. After several iterations of sending diagnostics that very clearly show the packets with the incorrect on/off state, I think I’ve convinced them that it’s not a packet loss issue.
Now they tell me that I need to purchase bypass modules (at my expense), but have not offered any explanation of why that would make a difference. AFAICT the bypass module just presents a 1.4W load. I can’t see how that would fix anything when I’m using a pair of 7W bulbs as the actual load. Even if it does solve the problem somehow, I think they should be supplying the bypass modules, since their product is not performing within its specifications (minimum 5W load).
They’ve also suggested that I return one of the dimmers for them to test, but if they’re unable to reproduce the problem, I will have to pay for it to be returned to me again.
There’s also another issue that they have acknowledged, but so far failed to provide a solution for - if you turn the knob (even a tiny bit) while clicking it to turn the light on, it comes on at the minimum brightness level, instead of the usual default level.
I’m not sure where to go next with this, so I was just wonder what others’ experiences have been with this product?
