Cannot connect - net::ERR_FAILED

The Android app connects locally, but I’ve never got it to connect over the internet, using DuckDBS and Let’s Encrypt.

Last time I tried it was giving certificate errors … but this time I got beyond that, and it says

Web page not available

The web page at https://.duckdns.org:8123/auth/authorize?response_type=code&client_id=https://home-assistant.io/android&redirect_uri=homeassistant://auth-callback could not be loaded because:

net::ERR_FAILED

Accessing https://.duckdns.org:8123 from the same phone produces

This site can’t provide a secure connection. .duckdns.org sent an invalid response.

Last time I tried the same URL from a laptop (from outside the LAN) it worked fine. Someone else tried with a different phone last night and it worked fine.

Any ideas as to what I do about this? Something to do with root CA perhaps?

I have the same issue with my wife’s Samsung S21 but strangely not with my S23 ultra.
I can get hers logged in on WiFi but outside of the home it won’t connect via app or web ui.

Hi I have the same problem, working fine until a couple of weeks ago.
Has anyone got a fix???

I’ve been having the same issue after an update.
I am seeing the issue on both Samsung S21 Plus and 23 Ultra.

Anyone with ideas, will be great!

Same Problem here on my Phones and Tablets.
Web-UI (http//:myhomeassistant.local:8123) ist working on all devices, Android APP not.

Homeassistant:

  • Core 2024.1.2
  • Frontend 20240104.0

Android App (latest from Google Play Store):
2023.12.4-full

Since my original post there’s been a phone update and a Home Assistant Companion update.

Now … without me changing anything … it works fine from outside the home … but doesn’t work at home any more. (Which I don’t care about as I use a real computer at home.)

Same problem with my Pixel 6 pro. Its working fine on my iPhone and wife’s Pixel 6.

HA Core 2024.2.2
Companion App 2024.1.5

What is going on? Anyone else has a solution?

Had the same problem today on my Samsung Tab S2 with Android 7.

Let’s Encrypt root and intermediate certificates were expired.

I downloaded everything I could get from here:

https://letsencrypt.org/certificates/

and installed them on my old tablet.

Tadaaa, working.
