I’ve been using HA for about two years, mostly without any issues. Recently, I retired my RP3+ in favor of a Lenovo ThinkCentre running the Generic x86-64 emulation. Everything works great, except for this one wrinkle:
-
If I open a browser window – MS Edge or Google Chrome – on a PC that is wired-connected (CAT5) to my home network as homeassistant:8123, I get the expected interface to HA.
-
If I try to do the same thing on a tablet or phone, I get a “Connection Error” message. I’ve tried Chrome, the HA ‘official’ app, and Wallpanel. All three seem to attempt to connect, but don’t complete the link. The error messages are similar.
-
The HA ThinkCentre sits at a pseudo-static (MAC-reserved) IP on the network. I’ve tried calling it as homeassistant:8123, homeassistant.local:8123, and by directly calling out the URL (ex: 192.168.1.13:8123). All fail in the same manner.
This problem came up because I wanted to add a tablet on the wall near the back door, to check the lights, locks, and thermostat before leaving the house. 95-99% of the time, I use other means (PCs, dedicated Z-Wave remotes) to make changes, or let HA run things through Automations. So, I really don’t know when things stopped working through WiFi. It used to work.
Does anyone have any ideas about what I need to change, or where to look? I’m assuming that the problem is related to using x86-64, but I could be wrong. I haven’t tried the wireless connection for at least 3-4 months.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
