I have two of these locks. They have worked pretty well for a couple of years. I recently upgraded my HA server to a NUC. this particular lock quit communicationg sometime ago and since it is on a rarely used door I just left it go. This afternoon I decided to try to get it working again. I also have a Zooz usb 800 controller, fyi. I installed new batteries, defaulted the lock twice and it did connect to the controller but as a node# not a Kwikset smartcode 888 like the other one. It will ping, and tell me the battery info but that is all. I am beginning to think this is toast. Is there anything else I can try?
I have a spare lock and I was able to include it with S2 security, forced it to use S0 security, then forced it to include with no security. When I included with no security I got the same issue you are having. I believe z-wave locks will not work unless they are included with security. Inside of Home Assistant go to settings > Devices and Services > Click the number of Z-Wave Devices > Click on your device > Expand the Z-Wave info section. Verify your lock was included with security. Here’s a picture of what you should see. For locks you should see S2 Access Control or S0 Legacy list in the Highest Security row. If you see none you will have to exclude the lock and try to add it till it has security.
