We have five Schlage Z-Wave touchscreen locks on our doors. Home Assistant sees them as model BE469ZP. A while back I ran into a problem with a power loss that apparently included a surge or something similar. Most of my devices are on various UPS devices, but I had forgotten to put one in place for the Pi4 I’m using for Home Assistant, so it got messed up, along with the backup configuration files. (Yes, I had a backup, yes, it got trashed, as well. Had to fix the RAID.)
I’ve set up a new instance of HA on a Pi4 that is working okay. The big problem has been the 5 Schlage BE46ZP locks. They need a secure key for the system and I couldn’t find the secure key from the old system. However, the Aeotec Z-Stick 700 still has those devices listed. There’s more to the story, including batteries that went out just at that time, so I thought it was communications, not batteries.
What I have now is 3 locks I’ve been able to remove from the Z-Wave system. I de-registered them at the lock, then used RemoveFailed to get them off the HA/Z-Stick system. The problem is the remaining 2 locks. I try to use RemoveFailed (from the web interface) to get rid of them and I get a message that it can’t remove them because they’re responding to pings. I get that, but there’s one problem:
There are no batteries in these locks!
First I tried to unenroll the locks from the Z-Wave system according to the Schlage manual. Didn’t work. So I pulled the batteries out of the locks and went back to my browser and tried to remove them - and, without batteries in them, they are still responding to pings!
What can I do to remove these from the system so I can re-add them with the new system’s security keys?
