Can't access hassio

Hi,
I can not do anything on home assistant, can access it from iPad but just get a spinning icon.

Also it didn’t use to have the icons on the left side.
Running on a pi 3.
Thanks SRR

Click on the Notifications icon. That may give you some indications. Its also possible that you need to clear the cache on your browser.

Hi dab35,
I can’t click on anything, just get the spinning icon continuously, will try clearing the cache and report back.
Thanks for the advice.

Hi all,
I have reloaded home assistant onto the sd card with etcher, but I keep getting a message saying it was unable to validate the install.
So I went ahead I tried using it, it let me load user details and a password but now all I get is the spinning icon if I try and access anything.
Do I need to reinstall on the sd card? Also what’s the best way to format the card before using etcher?
Thanks for the help.

Hi All,
Have tried loading hassio on to the sd card again, deleted the partitions with partition magic, then formatted, then loaded hassio on to the sd card with etcher, it validated ok. Then put in in in the Pi, now all I get is the screen with the home assistant logo and saying preparing hassio this could take 20 minutes.
And that’s as far as I can get, have tried powering down the Pi then back on but still the same.
Any ideas?

Wow - Partition Magic. I haven’t seen that in ages… ground breaking software.

It is at least booting up. Are you using wifi or ethernet?

Plugged straight into my router, still no change.
What should I do next?

Have reloaded again, now get stuck on the page where it asks where you live. I click detect location, which it finds then when I press next a box appears with the word Fail in it.
This is driving me nuts.

Any help, please?
Cheers SRR

Now tried a new sd card but still getting stuck on the auto detect page.
Help, please.
Cheers SRR

Skip the autodetect for now. Get set up and get the add-ons for SSH and Samba installed. Then you can edit the configuration.yaml file to add the latitude, longitude, and elevation.

Hi Dab35,
How do I miss autodetect out, every time I click next it fails. I am doing this on a iPad, is it different on a pc?
Cheers SRR

You should see a screen like this…

Select Time Zone from the list, and enter an elevation, THEN select Next.

From there you can either enter integrations, or select Finish.
I would just select Finish, its easy enought to get to the menu and add integrations later.

Still getting fail every time I hit next.

Just did the user name in lowercase and hey presto it’s let me in.
Thanks for the help.

In the future, I’d recommend using a browser to set up/configure Home Assistant. ios apps or android apps are secondary to getting your server up and running and can have their own independent issues.

So now trying to log on using my windows 10 pc in Microsoft edge, put in name and password and get this, errror: something went wrong.
But I can still sign in on the iPad.

Do you have Chrome or FireFox on your Windows 10 PC?

Literally anything but Edge…

Ok, I’ll try chrome.
Thanks.
