I used to have Simplisafe integrated in. It was great because the alarm was automatically set each night if we forgot. I updated my HA to 2021.8.4 and simplisafe required re-validation of credentials which it wouldn’t accept. I cleared it out entirely and tried to add the integration and even though I put in my username, password, and keypad code, I would either get “unexpected error” or “aborted”. Anybody have a solution?
I had the same thing happen to me when I updated from 2021.8.3 to 2021.8.4. I rolled back to 2021.8.3 and I had access to the integration again. I didn’t notice the releases of 2021.8.5 and 2021.8.6 until yesterday. In reviewing the change logs, I noticed that 2021.8.5 included a SimpliSafe change. I applied the changes and SimpliSafe still worked.
I have an automation that sets SimpliSafe to “Home” at 11:05 pm, and it worked last night. However, this morning I tried to set SimpliSafe to “Off” manually from Home Assistant, but it wouldn’t do it. I checked the Home Assistant Logbook and it shows that SimpliSafe became unavailable at 3:26 am. The Logbook shows that several times since then SimpliSafe has become unavailable and a little bit later it shows that the various sensors are successfully being checked. This unavailable then available repeated several times during the day. I just manually set SimpliSafe to “Home” and then to “Off” from Home Assistant so it seems to be working okay for me now.
I have the SimpliSafe app on my iPhone and iPad, and my experience has been that the app doesn’t work any better than the Home Assistant integration does. There are times where I try to disarm SimpliSafe from the app and it says that it can’t connect to the base station. I then switch to Home Assistant and am able to disarm it from there. As a matter of fact, I just tried to use the SimpliSafe app and that is what happened. I was able to arm it from Home Assistant. However, when I disarmed it from Home Assistant, the SimpliSafe entities became unavailable for a couple of minutes.
The maintainer of this integration, Aaron Bach, has noted that it is difficult to interface with SimpliSafe’s APIs. This may just be a manifestation of this problem. I saw on the SimpliSafe sub-reddit that SimpliSafe is rolling out a firmware update. Maybe the update will help with this. The notice says it includes “Various connectivity performance improvements.”
Mine has been more stable with the very latest HASS OS update. Prior to that, I kept getting requests to reconnect the account.
