I just got an Aeotec Z-Stick 7 and installed it on Home Assistant. The Z-Wave JS addon seems to be running correctly (it starts, at least), and the integration shows up in the list of integrations.
When I go to add a device, however, the ‘add device’ dialog pops up, but it never pairs with the new device.
I’m adding a Samsung SmartThings GP-U999SJVLAAA Door & Window Multipurpose Sensor.
The sensor is blinking alternately red and green, as it should.
My end goal is to migrate all my sensors from SmartThings to local control via ZWave, but if I can’t add any sensors, it’s going to be hard.
Do I need to disconnect the existing SmartThings hub first? I’d prefer not to, as I’d like to incrementally migrate devices.
Correct, SmartThings (Samsung) never made a SmartThings branded Zwave device - with the notable exception of course, being the ZWave controller in the ST hubs. All of their branded end devices are either Zigbee or that oddball Wifi plug they did…
Edit: @ericbr you’ll need both Zwave and Zigbee sticks (and now theoretically Thread+Matter as of the last firmware on v.3) if you want full functionality to get off a ST Hub
