Can't connect to Home Assistant

Hello,

I’m runnning Hassio on a Raspberry3, connected via ethernet to a Virgin Media router. I was using the raspberry 2.5A power adaptor. After a few months without problems I started to have trouble connecting to Home Assistant; by manually unplugging and plugging the rasp I was able to restart it but it would stop working after a few minutes. I then tried to use an iPad charger (which is 2.1A); the situation improved a little but I still have to restart the rasp every 1 or 2 days.

Having said that, I am still not sure the power adaptor is the problem and I would like to rule out other things before changing it (I remember being able to use an iPhone charger 1A without problems and had only bought the 2.5A for peace of mind)…

there is an integration called rpi-monitor (something like that) which you can use to track voltage issues.

I can’t find it; where should it be?

Can I do something by looking at the log?

have a look at this: https://github.com/custom-components/sensor.rpi_power

There’s no addon in the rep for this issue.

You need a power supply with contact Voltage / Ampere. I would recommend 5V/3A to be safe.

easiest way to get it is through hacs: https://github.com/hacs/integration

So I’ve copied the custom_components folder into my config folder and restarted home assistant

I don’t see anything new in the summary page

Ok, I hadn’t added the new lines to the config file

I know have the component in the summary page

It showed 8000 overheating for a fre seconds and then changed to 0 ‘everything fine’

How should I use this? Wait for next freeze and then restart and look at this component’s history?

Today I had to restart Home Assistant again; rpi_power shows high temperature upon restart but then stays stable throughout the day; there is no sign of overheating or drop in voltage at the time the raspberry crashed

Just crashed again; now I cannot even access the log; it tries to load it for minutes and it never finishes; ha is still running because I can control my lights using HomeKit and I receive some notifications; I just can’t access the front end

I’ve bought a new SD (kingston 64gb heavy duty) and restored my snapshot on a fresh install
Let’s see if it makes a difference, as the power adaptor is fine

I’ve been using the new sd card with no issues now so it was probably that
