Can't connect to homeassistant

dfdf

First time I’m installing HA, I can ping the IP but, on browser, either trying http://homeassistant.local:8123 or the ip returns

This site can’t be reached

homeassistant.local refused to connect.

cant find it either via the companion app, stuck on endles search

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Have you tried http://192.168.32.19:8123
Also, take a look at: Troubleshooting installation problems - Home Assistant

yup, no luck. observer is fine but not HA. running a x86 machine with usb-ethernet dongle if that matters.
cant find anything of help on the troubleshooting guide, and tbh i checked several threads before posting.
I cant see whats the problem, I can see the HA on my router devices list but cant access

Has this ever worked? I assume it’s not an update to latest 2024.12.x version which can exhibit exactly this issue and also you have no optional addons enabled?

considering its my first ever install…no. just followed the guide ubuntu method and grabbed the image from the link in the guide

Yes….I did read you’re post but I was double checking as there is an identical issue in 2024.12.x with some addons blocking the startup for web ui

I would suggest trying ‘safe mode’ but you won’t have SSH access

  • maybe that will work from the ha > prompt you have above.
    ha core restart --safe-mode

returns “unknown error see supervisor”

I now tried on a mini pc and it’s working, tho I was hoping to repurpose that old notebook (still a 2015 i5 with 4gb ram)

Something to do with that?

Of course, repurposing that laptop would be good and given that the battery is still OK-ish you get a UPS for free.

i have no idea. setting up wifi i was getting an error, with dongle at least i got an IP and observer was ok

from your "ha > " prompt enter login, press return and enter the command

docker ps

Do you see the home assistant docker image running? It will have the version number in the name.
