Can't connect to ikea matter devices and Dirigera

My set-up is HA running on a mac mini in UTM and I have ipv6 enabled.

I recently bought a dirigera and some scroll wheels. They had been working but I’d seen there were issues with getting the scroll wheel events so held off on trying to use them.

I’ve tried again today but after setting the dirigera as the preferred thread network I cannot get any matter devices to connect to HA. It won’t add the dirigera or the bilresa scroll wheel, no difference if I try to connect them directly or sharing them after connecting them to the dirigera.

My preferred theread netwrok has the dirigera and an apple tv. I have set the dirigera to handle credentials and shared them with the phone and home assistant.

I’ve tried restarting everything many times and nothing works, pairing between dirigera and bilresa works fine but I can’t get any matter devices to connect with home assistant. It had worked so I think the thread change may have broken it.

Did you know that you can only use the original Matter code from the Bilerasa remote control to register it in one ecosystem? If it has already been added to a Dirigera hub, you should try using Matter’s multi-admin function to generate another code—in this case, for Home Assistant. I don’t know what it looks like in the Ikea app, but there should be a function for it there. https://matter-smarthome.de/en/benefits/benefits-of-matter-5-multi-admin/

Alternatively, you could try resetting the Bilresa to factory settings and then adding it directly to Home Assistant. However, you will still need the Dirigera hub (or another border router) in your network because of the Thread connection.

How could I do that? Where would I add a Thread device unless I have a local Thread on my HA?

Using the Home Assistant companion app, it is possible for Home Assistant to join an existing Thread network—i.e., to use a third-party border router. However, the official documentation only mentions border routers from Apple or Google in this context. It is therefore possible that it will not work with a Dirigera hub alone. It would be worth trying. Thread – Home Assistant | home-assistant.io

Think I got it to work. I don’t know if I just messed up something from the start or if the update to the Dirigera or HA core did it. But now it seems to work by first adding it (Alpstuga) to the Dirigera. Then in the Dirigera I went to the settings for the device and found “Anslut via QR-kod”. There I copy the code and then I go to HA App, Matter Integration and press add unit. Choose that it’s already in use and then select Homekit (I don’t have any Homekit stuff…??) or Other controller (both ways seem to work. Then paste the code from Dirigera and, Tada! It appears! Very intuitive… I don’t have any Thread hardware on my RPI 5 HA…
