Can't get a sucsessful HACS on HA Green - pls help

I unboxed the HA Green and plugged it in.

It’s running
Core/Supervisor 2023.11.3
OS 11.1

I ran the HACS install routine, “wget -O - https://get.hacs.xyz | bash -” etc through to “Congratulations, you’re all set!”

After that, selecting the icon on the right, instead of a page showing icons “Integrations, Frontend, Add-ons” etc, I get a page as follows:

What am I doing wrong?

How do I fix it?

You ticked the experimental features box when you installed HACS.

So you have the experimental interface. There is nothing wrong with your installation.

If you want the old interface you can turn experimental features off by following these instructions:

Great Tom…it’s now got the “Integrations, Frontend, Add-ons” icons.

I hadn’t noticed that my installation had the “Experimental…” checkbox, whereas the tutorial didn’t.

Incidentally, if my installation was “correct”, how would I have downloaded a repository from HACS…what I was left with didn’t do anything when clicked.

Again, thanks

Not sure, I haven’t used the 2.0 interface yet. Guessing you click on the Repository banner or three dots icon somewhere.

Oh, OK, …wait and see…

It’s described here Main Dashboard | HACS

I’m having trouble installing HACS on my Home Assistant Green. I’ve found a page with Get HACS on it:

Get HACS

The easiest way to get HACS for Home Assistant.

This add-on does not run HACS. This add-on only provides the easiest way to download HACS.

Instructions

  1. Use the Install button above to build the add-on.
  2. Start the add-on.
  3. Navigate to the add-on logs and follow instructions given there.

So I’ve used the Install button and pressed Start.

“Navigate to the addon logs” - what are the addon logs? Where are they? I have looked in “Logbook” and there is nothing in there. I’ve looked in Settings > System > Logs and there is nothing there either. I’m very new to all this (the device arrived yesterday) and I simply can’t find anything that tells me what to do. All the links I can find to HACS information (including the ones in this thread) take me to pages that show 404 not found.

I would love to use Home Assistant, but it is so complicated. I’m not thick (I have a science degree) but I can’t seem to do anything with this device at all.

Great. Go back to that page.

Look at the top of the page (or bottom if you’re on mobile). Do you see the documentation, configuration and logs tabs?

Thanks for replying - yes I can see those now. I think I have sorted this as follows:

I have watched a video that I found which told me to go to “Integrations” which I deduced meant Settings > Devices and Services. Then it told me to restart HA and clear my cache. The video suggested there were 3 dots in the top right corner of HA which would restart the system, but I had no dots. Eventually in Settings > System I found a power button in the top right corner which restarts HA. I did this and cleared the cache and then I found HACS in the list of integrations. I created a Github account and pasted in the code and I can now see HACS on my integrations page.

I’m reporting all this so anyone else who is trying the same thing can find all these things, as they are different from what is shown on the videos and in the documentation on HA Green.

The page where I found the download was Downloading HACS - HACS

Yeah, videos get stale pretty fast. It’s quite safe to assume that any video more than a year old will contain outdated information, especially for UI options.

With HA releasing updates monthly, the only dependable source of info are the official docs.
