Can't get rid of dark mode

my android app is dark as f***, i can’t see my switches anymore even though i only use a basic setup with all standard graphics?

  1. why is dark mode broken like that in a standard setup
  2. how do i turn that stuff off?

YES i got my HA server on Home Assistant 0.114.2
YES i went into my Profile and selected “light”
NO it’s still dark, and goes right back to “auto” when i check my profile again?

while you could argue, you can see the switched off switch in this screen, this color difference is not visible on my mobile phone!

and as you can see, it’s set to “light” and still displays the dark theme

in the drop down for themese instead of backend selected, have you tried setting it to default and see if light works then

as you can see in the screenshot, the dropdown menu is greyed out, and i cannot change anything there

Turn darkmode off on your device in settings.
Your problem has nothing to do with the home assistant app. It is getting overridden by the system

How is a broken dark mode theme in the HA app, NOT a problem of the HA app?
I don’t want to set my whole mobile phone to light mode.

I want either a working dark mode in the HA app, or at least a way to not be forced to use the broken dark mode in the HA app.

Setting my whole mobile phone to light mode, is a workaround, not a fix!!!

I’m having the same issue. I also can’t see switches and can’t change the theme as the dropdown is disabled.

I have both the companion app and a chrome shortcut on my android home screen. I could change the theme by selecting “Light” in the chrome view, but it didn’t work the same with the companion app.

For information, setting custom colors for primary and accent color WORKS in the android app, but background color remains dark (with white font) even after selecting light mode.

Fixed with latest app update

Yep i can confirm that the app updated fixed it.
Not only fixed the light<->dark selector, they also fixed the dark theme being unusable. switches in dark mode are now clearly visible.
So much for “has nothing to do with the app”.

Yep, awesome! Home assistant is probably the only app I don’t want in dark mode

I found something today. I turned the default theme to dark. Then changing the any theme to a light mode won’t work.

I have to set the theme to {“name”:“none”, “mode”: “dark”}, to allow the light themes to start working again.

Apparently if there is a theme set to dark, the light mode will never work until the dark mode is set to none. Go figure!
