Can't seem to boot to bios - Dell Wyse 5070

I am sorry to ask such a basic question. I am unable to boot to bios in my 5070. Repeated attempts appear to be unsuccessful. I think part of the problem is a lack of video feed from any of the ports. So, I may actually be getting to bios, but I cannot see anything. My 5070 has three Display ports that I run though a “display port” to VGA cable with DVI adapter to my monitor. The monitor is not getting any video.

I have some skills, but am far from being an expert. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Get rid of the VGA adapter, you are attempting to convert a Digital signal to an Analogue back to Digital.

Just use HDMI to DVI adapter or use an Active HDMI/DP to VGA adapter only.

You are my new best friend. Thank you so very much. Simple is always best, huh?

How did you manage to stick in a display port cable into an HDMI port?
Or did you actually mean you’re using 3 different cables:
HDMI > DisplayPort > VGA > DVI?

The display port is on the back of the Wyse. My bad, I initially wrote HDMI. That has been corrected. I bought a DP (display port>VGA)cable to hook up to one of my monitors. Unfortunately, I forgot that both the VGA port on both is what I amusing for my desktop PC. Both monitors also have a DVI-D port. So, I used a VGA>DVI-D adaptor. So, to sum it up, DP>VGA>DVI-D

I’ve done something since posting my gratitude and am waiting for a couple more cables to see if I broke something.

DVI-I single and Dual link and DVI-A are the only ones you don’t need an active adapter to convert to/from VGA due to the extra 4 pins.

DP, HDMI and DVI-D all need active adapters as they are fully digital connectors for display, as stated you can’t use passive cables and adapters going between them unless its DP-DVI-D or DP-HDMI or visa versa.

Thank you, Robert. At some point in the past, I made this work with a VGA cable and some adaptors. By adaptors I mean a DP/DVI-D (Dual Link) adapter to a DVI-D (Dual Link)/VGA adaptor to VGA cable to my monitor. I am not sure how I managed that, but it worked long enough for me to set up HA on the Wyse.

I needed to check some things on the WYSE, after a power outage and tried to recreate that which worked before. For some reason, I could not do it.

I now have a DP to VGA cable that I have hooked to a TV. That is working. I dealy, I would prefer to preform any sort of work in my office where my monitor has a DVI-D(Dual Link) port. I bought one of these to leave plugged in to one of my monitors for future use.

It seems in my frustration, I broke the DP to VGA cable. The replacement is working. So, all good, now.

Thank you, again.

What I did for a while in my setup since I had them from other projects, was have a wireless HDMI receiver plugged into a HDMI splitter that went into my top monitor and used a switchbot bot to toggle through the inputs as needed.

Would let me connect systems I am working on to the display out when I needed without faffing about swapping cables lol.

I have now removed that setup since I am waiting to see if I get delivery of an IP KVM I backed 2 units for by JetKVM for easier management this way when I need it.

I am also looking into a KVM switch for when I have the budget for one to setup with one of the IPKVM’s in my rack at home.

Everything else I just remote in via Anydesk or via Ultravnc when I am able to have those setup on the devices.

Should give you ideas for your setups from what I had setup heh.

Thanks Robert. That is probably a bit too techy for me. I am just trying to get HA loaded on one of these things. I’m not having any luck.

Thanks for sharing that, though.
