I’ve been using a CC2531 with Zigbee2mqtt for a few months now and it’s been all fine & dandy until yesterday afternoon when my coordinator stopped working. I unplugged it from the USB socket, plugged it back in, and when I did I noticed I got a red LED light instead of the usual green one, so I checked the logs and I saw the error “Failed to connect to the adapter (Error: SRSP - SYS - ping after 6000ms)”
I’ve searched around and found & tried a few solutions, including -
Unplugging it, waiting 3 seconds and then plugging it back in 3 times
Pressing the reset button (the one closest to the USB port)
Pressing the other button
Holding down the reset button for 10 seconds
Switching from Zigbee2mqtt Edge to Stable
Changing the config from port /dev/ttyACM0 to /dev/serial/by-id/usb-Texas_Instruments_TI_CC2531_USB_CDC___0X00124B0014D47EB6-if00
Rebooting the supervisor
Rebooting the host system (I use Home Assistant OS)
Running test -w /dev/serial/by-id/usb-...-if00 && echo success || echo failure in the command line (I got “success”)
I’m worried that the firmware on the CC2531 has become corrupt, and if so will need re-flashing. I’m not too bothered about doing that, but if it happened once, it will happen again, and I rely on the Zigbee network for many of my (and my family’s) day-to-day activities, so an unreliable controller is simply unacceptable.
Is there anything else you can think I could try, or is this a re-flash job? And if that is the case, rather than re-flashing, is there a more reliable controller available in the UK that I could use? (I could always re-flash this one as a router).
Yes, that I can always do. But, I’ll wait for new stick at least 14 days due to Christmas and NY…
Question is what happened with CC2531 and is it possible to fix it somehow?
Just to remind: red light is on on stick (firmware: Z-Stack_Home_1.2 - 20190608 - CC2531ZNP-Prod.hex)
Unfortunately I ended up buying a Conbee II; after Googling how to reflash the CC2531, how much the tools would cost and discovering the other issues that might come up I just thought this way was easier.
I realise this close to Christmas that is not the news you wanted to hear, but I also didn’t want to not reply with my “solution”.
On the plus-side, the range of the Conbee II is bloody amazing; devices that had single-digit LQIs are now well over 100!
Edit 3 months later: the Conbee has given me zero issues since installation and this is the “fix” I would recommend.
The evening my curtains did not closed. Checked my logs the connection with my cc2531was lost. And also the usb has a red led instead of normal green… no solution for this?
