Centered, Fixed-Width Cards in Sections

I would like to propose a feature to enhance the Lovelace layout by allowing cards within full-width (8-block) sections to be displayed at a fixed width (e.g., 4 blocks) while being centered within the section. Currently, full-width sections automatically fill the width of the screen, which can make it difficult to create visually balanced layouts with fixed-width cards. By adding an option to center a card with a defined width, users would have greater flexibility to create cleaner, more organized dashboards on both small and large screens.

Additionally, I propose adding a slider or positioning control for each card’s starting position within a section. This would allow cards to start at any point within the layout, rather than always defaulting to the leftmost position. For instance, a 4-block-wide card could start at any block position within an 8-block section, creating custom alignments like left, right, or centered. The default behavior would still be to begin at the start, but this feature would allow users to easily adjust the starting position for a more personalized and aesthetically pleasing layout.

Thank you for considering this feature request. This addition would offer significant flexibility in layout design and allow users to tailor their dashboards more precisely to their preferences!

e.g.

|XXXXXXXX|
|__ XXXX __| ← here the card has length of 4 but is centered in a 8 block length
|XXXXXXXX|
|XXXXXXXX|

Hi @mariosker

I agree with you. An alternative, which could add even more flexibility, is to have a blank ‘spacer’ card available. This would enable blank gaps to be inserted anywhere. Such cards may also be easier to implement.

Yeah I like this option but what happens in different devices. For example in phones it is not needed but in pc it is. Guess you can go with visibility options. But it seems like a hack to me

As a workaround you can use a heading card. If you remove title & icon you get a spacer card you can make as big or small as you need it (lower limit is a width of 3 in precise mode)

Currently I handle this problem with the bubble card empty column card and is great but still seems to be a hack.
