Change system locale on Hassbian not working?!

I am new to Home Assistant and home automation in general, but think Home Assistant is an easy and great tool to get started (Thanks to the developers and the community here). So far I got all my devices up and running on a RPi2 using Hassbian (and reading a lot in this forum). The only thing which is not working -> localization.

I generated and updated the locale for my language. After a restart of my Pi nothing changed though. What am I missing here? Is it possible to change localization?

$ locale -a
C
C.UTF-8
de_DE.utf8
en_GB.utf8
POSIX

$ locale
LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=
LC_CTYPE="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=

I’m also interested about this. Noone knows how to change locale for HA?, to at least get the right LC_TIME for getting days of the week and months in the desired language??
Thanks in advance!!!

If you use hassbian you can change system locale via ssh ‘sudo raspi-config’ / hassbian works like raspbian.

In HA is where you put the location by latitude, longitude and time zone
