Changing from SD card to SSD

Hi, my 3B was running the HA Operating System from a micro-SD card. It died (after ages) and I was thinking of switching to an SSD. I have the standard google drive backups. Can I run HA from an SSD? If not I think I can run Linux from an SSD and then put HA on it but can I then use my GoogleDrive backups? I’ve realised I have no idea what is actually backed up as I’ve never had to use it. I also have a 4 with 4GB running Linux but it does other things so I wouldn’t want it to slow down too much. Possible though. I could then give my 3B to my brother. Thanks!

It should be possible. Not with the standard HaOS image tho.
The 3B can’t boot from USB directly, but you can first-load from sd-card and then ‘connect’ to the USB ssd

As for your backups. The only way to find out what’s in there is to (test) restore them
