So in Z-wave settings, i renamed a node and clicked “rename node”, but nothing happens.
Logs show this but nothing else: 2017-10-22 12:53:14.462 Detail, Node011, Notification: NodeNaming
I used to do all the node stuff in OZWCP but now this has moved to HA the above should work right?
I had similar issue yesterday renaming some of my zwave device. After issuing a node rename, if you restart HA it will show with the new name.
Ok I will try that today. If this is the case someone needs to put “restart required” in the UI upon clicking this option
yep, you definitely need to restart HA. I found that out the hard way too.
I used to be able to change z-wave node names with a restart. That is no longer the case for me. Are people still able to change the node names?
Looks like you have to edit the .xml file directly. The name="" field next to <Node id=“XX”
I know its annoying but try rebooting the HA server after each device is added. That has always worked for me. (full power cycle, not just a HA soft restart)
When you say “full power cycle”, are you suggesting that I pull the power chord on the raspberry pi? I used to restart it that way, until I corrupted the SD card. I don’t do that anymore.
yep, pull the power. I don’t like doing it either but it seemed to be the only way to get it to work when adding nodes. As for changing the name, I have noticed that using the name change function in the zwave control panel will only do half the job. The node name is changed in some places but its entity_id remains the the same so its not real good…
