I have a few Broadlink ir/rf devices and have integrated into HA via the integration. All working with the occasional dropping of wifi for a few seconds every so often.
I wish to change the wifi ssid and will be using the app and my iphone to do so. Will I lose all my ir commands which HA has learnt once I am back online with a new ssid?
I did change SSIDs on BroadLink minis and didn’t lose IR codes. However if you want to be on the safe side, I would recommend a backup + copy the BroadLink code files found under the “storage” folder. The IR codes can be appended manually if needed.
ok. I have been wanting to do this for quite sometime but just putting it off. I will start with one of my least used Broadlink device and hope for the best. It’s been so long since I set these up. Have to refresh my memory of the steps needed. Thanks.
Please let us know what happens, I’ve been looking at these devices for a few weeks and want one. If it cannot be easily updated I’d consider that a massive security issue(who would change their info if it’s gonna break their system?). I already have to monitor my network closely because of where I live(wardrivers be getting out of hand in some places).
Ok. Success. I have changed over to a new ssid for my devices. It seems the setup has changed slightly from when I set them up many years ago.
I think using the Broadlink app and a smart phone is quicker then the alternative method of a pc device with wifi and python installed.
For reference, I have the RM mini 3 and rm4 pro 2019 version. I’ve found this guide to fully connect your device to your wifi network and integrated to home assistant if you need further instructions.

Before starting, set your phone wifi to the ssid of your choice (make sure it is 2.4ghz only).
Plug in your Broadlink device and use a pin to reset the device. Hold down the pin for 5 sec until the led blinks rapidly. If it is a new device, it will be in pairing mode once you connect the power.
Open the broadlink app. Select Add device from the top right corner with the + icon → Add a new device → Universal Remote → select your device from the list
It will populate the ssid network name. Confirm that is the one you want and type in the password. Click next.
It will connect to your wifi ssid in a few seconds. No need to add the device to the app. You can just press back arrow to the beginning to add more devices or just delete the app once you have confirm it is working in HA.
