Notifications today are very ephemeral within Home Assistant. I would love to see a more fully featured notification system that is not dependent upon the particular functionality of a delivery channel, but rather treated more like a generic email inbox. This could also be viewed within lovelace as a focused “events” log to see past notices and actions taken.
Notifications could:
- have tags added to them for inbox filtering and further logic/automation
- be a assigned an priority/criticality
- have subject/message/image/video
- have a link to the notification with more details
- have actions to be taken (and record action taken…mail arrived, did somebody check it?))
- record read status (and by who)
- target all users, specific users, or no users (if you just want to add certain events to an audit log)
While mainly focused around the companion apps, other integrations could also be configured to subscribe to specific users/tags for delivery and deliver as appropriate for that channel.
Your thoughts? Am I missing a piece of this puzzle?
