Cheap change from MAX! to Homematic possible - but does it make sense?

ELV declared that MAX! users can exchange their MAX!cubes for free to a Homematic IP access point and get a discount of 50% for their MAX!hardware on homematic IP hardware.

I am having three thermostats and two window sensors.

  1. Now I was wondering what might be the best way to go. Right now I am using the MAX!cube with the original firmware and the corresponding HASS integration. Does work, isn’t really stable. Just continuing this way would be option 1
  2. I read there is a way to flash another firmware onto the cube - doing this and keeping the MAX!thermostats is option 2
  3. trade in the current hardware, get brand new hardware for a good price (I guess) and work with homematic IP - BUT from what I read that doesn’t work without cloud access?! Would be a no go for me; I’m not spending money on smart hardware which HAS to have internet access…

any ideas and suggestions?

thanks!

Hi,

i allready left MAX! for Homematic. But i bought a Charlie-CCU3 and the Homematic thermostat.

With a CCU3 you can work cloudless, you can use ASKSINPP DIY components.
The Homematic thermostats are cheaper tan the IP ones.

I sold my component in the FHEM forum.

You can 't use a flashed Cube as CUL with home-assistant this only works in FHEM.
