Cheap tablet for HA Dashboard

Hi,

I’m looking for a cheap tablet to put in my house with a home assistant tablet. I came accross this one. As far ss I understood there’s a Kiosk Browser app to keep it on and I can use the frontcam to make it turn on when motion is detected.

Does this one work?

BYYBUO SmartPad A10 Tablet 10.1 inch Android 11 Tabletten, 32GB ROM Quad-Core Processor 5000mAh Batterij, 1280x800 IPS HD Touchscreen 5MP+8MP Camera, Bluetooth,WiFi,GPS (Grijs) https://amzn.eu/d/a7edyYc

Just be careful with cheap Android tablets - some run a “lite” version of Android that is not compatible with HA Companion. Just be sure you are getting a full Android release and a reasonably recent one.

I have a cheap Onn tablet with Android Go and it runs the HA Companion and Fully Kiosk just fine.

Hmm - I threw mine in the spares box because it didn’t - that was a while back. Charging and trying again now.

EDIT: Yep works fine - if a tad slow but that’s just the cheap hardware. Thanks  I would not have retried except for this post…

Glad that it helped! Yes, it sure doesn’t feel like a Samsung but it’s still perfectly usable.

Thanks, I decided to buy it. Not that much of a risk and maybe I can even return it if it doesn’t work. Let’s see.

Are there any mid-price recommendations that are proven solutions? There was a time when lots of Lenovo tablets were floating the market, how are experiences with those over time?

What onn did you get the 11 2 gigs of r or the 11
7 with 4 gogs of ram

i also have the SmartPad T10 by BYYBUO. Can you please explain how to automate the screen on/off based on motion detection?

I got this one more than a year ago. Still up and running just fine. It has Android 12 Go now.

You can use the Fully Kiosk integration.
